Another pretty Swiss girl

Anyway....the nice man in the big brown truck just delivered another Swiss mail-order bride. She's a K1911 Carbine (aka "K11), this is the carbine version of the Schmidt-Rubin M1911 long rifle. These were developed for support troops, cavalry, and other units that required a shorter rifle and are the precursor to the K31. My particular specimen is a 1917 vintage wearing a beautiful set of walnut furniture. The trigger on this baby is sa-weet! These Swiss rifles have the finest trigger of any milsurp, this one is the standard 2 stage with a very smooth take up and what feels like @ a 2# break (Charlie, we need to check this one if I remember to bring it with me Saturday). Without further adieu....

For those interested, the biggest difference between the Schmidt-Rubin action and the later K31 action is that the Schmidt-Rubin locking lugs are behind the bolt and lock into the receiver behind the magazine well while the K31 lugs are at the front of the bolt and lock into the receiver ring resulting in the Schmidt-Rubin bolt/action being @ 2.5" longer than the later K31 bolt/action.

BTW: numbers-matching receiver, bolt, and magazine (this is pretty common with the Swiss though, I don't think they do arsenal refurbs).
