Making a 1903A3 ?

I am not an expert in classic firearms but it looks to me the below receivers could be a good starting point for a very decent rifle.
This would not be intended to be a precise reproduction but to use all the original furniture and have a high end barrel
from Krieger or lothar walter profiled like the original, bed the stock, etc.. and have this thing shooting nice groups.

Some of you guys who know more about classics would this be a good receiver for a project like that? I am thinking the original stock
with a good barrel and a timmey trigger would make a difference and since I can chamber it and build it myself it I think it could be pretty accurate
and reliable.

Not sure... so many possibilities and so little time...

With C and R is there a requirement for certain parts to be present?

Those receivers appear to be 1903-A3 and not 1903. There is a difference. With those receivers and a good barrel you could build a target rifle with very good accuracy. You could build a hunting rifle suitable for dangerous game as they are controlled round feed. In your picture both bolts are missing the claw extractors. You could restore them to complete rifles as all parts are available although the color would be wrong as those are blued. I believe I have a bag of parts, timney trigger, and a new original barrel around here somewhere ...

While they are nice receivers the 1903 would be a tad nicer. 1903-A3's were made with " war time production " methods to make manufacturing easier and faster to produce more.

A modern receiver would be better yet.

The definition for curio or relic (“C & R”) firearms found in 27 CFR § 478.11 does not specifically state that a firearm must be in its original condition to be classified as a C&R firearm. However, ATF Ruling 85-10, which discusses the importation of military C&R firearms, notes that they must be in original configuration and adds that a receiver is not a C&R item. Combining this ruling and the definition of C&R firearms, the Firearms Technology Branch (FTB) has concluded that a firearm must be in its original condition to be considered a C&R weapon.

It is also the opinion of FTB, however, that a minor change such as the addition of scope mounts, non-original sights, or sling swivels would not remove a firearm from its original condition. Moreover, we have determined that replacing particular firearms parts with new parts that are made to the original design would also be acceptable-for example, replacing a cracked M1 Grand stock with a new wooden stock of the same design, but replacing the original firearm stock with a plastic stock would change its classification as a C&R item.

I put this under the C&R but we all know this cannot be a C&R. however it can be a reproduction of a popular rifle and I think it could be pretty accurate
with a good chambering job and the amazing ammunition available today. I can blueprint everything and chamber this with super tight tolerances. Also
bed the stock and do a number of things that will stay under the hood and improve the rifle while maintaining the classic pedigree.
