Probably a good idea Ray, especially if Hillary wins in 2016. OTOH, if we get this country back on track, drop these trade embargos, and get some pro gun folks back in office, those millions of Mosins still sitting in the warehouses of eastern Europe will start flowing this way again and kill the panic pricing. I picked up a bent-bolt ex-sniper at Samco because they are kind of unique and the price was fair but I can't justify paying $175-200 for a plane jane 91/30 when I have a handfull of them in the safe already.

For the guys late to the party and watching the prices trend up over the past couple years, grabbing a few or getting in on a crate buy right now might not be such a bad idea.

On a national scale, gun rights really haven't "swung away" from us. For those of us in the communist nanny states it is easy to forget how things are in most of free America: standard cap mags, AK's, pistol grips, suppressors, etc, all easily and legally available. More states passing Constitutional Carry and other laws to negate any new federal gun control legislation. Hell, looked what happened recently when the ATF tried to sneak in that green-tip ban....major public outcry!

Don't want to turn this political so I'll stop here, suffice to say that it really comes down to dropping the damn embargos and sanctions that obammy and company have shoved down our throats via "executive orders". Lots of Garands in South Korea waiting to come back this way, crap loads of Mosins and SKS's piled up in Asia and eastern Europe ready to hop on a boat and sail for the US, etc.

Please don't beat me up too much on this but... what is the big deal is about these rifles? What makes them so desireable when there are modern firearms available?

Many of these guns are true "ghost" guns. They have battle scars, they were used during conflict, enemy combatants were killed with them, there is blood, death, and destruction tied to them. There are stories too, stories of how they may have saved lives, preserved liberty, deposed tyrants, or allowed their owner to get home safely after some war in a far off place, long ago.

There are also those of us that would just rather have a 1967 427 4 speed 'Vette over the factory's latest offering.

Got it... I vaguely remember many foreign military rifles for sale in the American Rifleman magazine in the mid-60's (yep I'm that old) for $12 - $15... Started reloading in 1967.
