Prepared for 30 degree temps and snow (as forecast all week) I was pleasantly surprised to find 60's and blue skies today. I packed up a few of the old veterans and headed out to the range for some quality time. Yes, I do use a pussy pad. Wooden bolt-action rifles with steel butt plates tossing 175gn 30 caliber projectiles down range tend to beat the fuk out of my shoulder (more so when I'm just wearing a light shirt instead of the winter jacket).
K1911 (1916 vintage). This was a blast to shoot, especially with a 2.5# trigger pull. With the sight calibration beginning at 300 meters on the lowest setting I just couldn't quite nail the proper hold for our 200 yard range so instead of shooting paper I just rang the steel.

VZ 24 Czech Mauser (1940 vintage Romania contract build). My first experience with the largest round I currently shoot.....that 8mm stuff is loud as hell and kicks like a mule.

PU Sniper, finally got the scope dialed to a point that I'm happy with it.

200 yards, the scope is only a 4x. I was playing with the windage and trying to figure out the hold.

Lastly, one of my favorite views (second only to my Swiss lady)

This is the '55. I just put new Boyd's furniture on it and had to get her sighted in (many thanks to Liberty's Teeth for the tuning and tweaking so she actually operates properly in the new wood)

Close enough for the girls I hang out with, it was a bit windy and I wanted to get some more trigger time to tighten my groups up but Mother Nature had other plans.....

See how blue the sky is in the target shot above? As soon as I pasted that group and got back to the shoot house for another string, the wind really kicked up, it got about 15 degrees colder, and the fog rolled in. I assumed a cold front but was later informed that the ice on the lake broke up and turned over (range is very close to the lake shore).
