Curio and Relic License?

I have read about people getting their C&R license, what is it and what does it do for you? What is the process and cost in getting one?

$30 and two forms, a month later you have your 03 FFL. One is mailed to ATF for approval, one is mailed to local law enforcement for their file.

You can buy long guns over 50 years old without a NICS check, private or web site. They can be shipped to your door.

Only down side is the ATF can set up an appointment to look at your bound book and can request to see a rifle in it.
It's not free access to inspect your home and safe.

This does not apply to ammo.

It is a Federal Firearm License that allows you to purchase any rifle (or pistol...in the free states) over 50 years old and have it delivered to your front door. It costs $30 up front and thousands over the next few years when you get addicted to having guns shipped to your door.

I sent in my application last week, Looking forward to getting it back.Should of got it years ago. I already sent off for the book to list the guns in and I have an old Revelation 410 shotgun on lay-away for the first gun in my book once I get the permit. After this who knows what will follow, some old 22 rifles, some old 410 shotguns and some commorative 1911s. I'm not into the old military stuff. I'll start shopping when I get it in.

Firearm curios or relics include firearms which have special value to collectors because they possess some qualities not ordinarily associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

1. Have been manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; or
2. Be certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or
3. Derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or from the fact of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.
