So my career path hasn't exactly led to wealth for me and my family, so I figured I'd try to do something to supplement my income. I had an idea a few years back as I was having issues dealing with the sun glare while shooting at Camp Perry. I messed around on the wife's sewing machine a bit and after a first failed prototype, the second one came out fairly functional. I took it to Camp Perry the next year and was happy with how it worked. I also had another competitor ask if I made it and ask if he could take some pictures of it. It didn't occur to me until about a year later that perhaps I could try to sell them. So, a bunch more variations and prototypes later, I started getting halfway decent at using my wife's sewing machine. I also had a halfway decent product design. I paid the stupid tax a bit along the way, and finally managed to get manufacturing arranged. My product is now for sale through White Oak Armament.
My initial target market is definitely service rifle competitors, but I had a double distinguished bullseye pistol shooter who wanted to buy one of my factory samples. Hopefully I can get some exposure with the PRS and long range rimfire crowds. Jury is still out on whether the clays guys would use it. What would neat is if some other market I hadn't thought of could use it as well. If anyone has any ideas for uses outside the shooting sports I'd love to hear them. The only other use I've heard so far is from a former coworker who said he could use it at work so that he didn't have to see his annoying coworkers.
