This is an interesting situation as far as it relates to public perception, influence, and group psychology. Right now there's a massive media onslaught of pressure to get vaccinated. It's hitting people from all angles. Now you have major employers trying to force the vaccination. There's also the general trend of people who aren't 'towing the party line' to clam up about their opinions on social media and in public because there's a good chance it will lead to harassment. So there's a lot of factors shaping how everyone perceives vaccination status and how many people are vaccinated.
When you google stats on vaccination rates, it shows that the US as a whole is approximately 52% vaccinated. Rochester probably skews a bit more liberal, and UofR even more so to some degree. So the administration is taking a big gamble. A certain percentage of the people will cave and get the jab, but that percentage will likely change if anti-vaxx employees get more vocal and stage walkouts ASAP to gain some solidarity. If the people who don't want the jab don't speak up soon, it will be a game of attrition. I'm curious whether the administrators determining this policy are in such a bubble that they aren't nervous, or if there's some external impetus driving them to this policy. Or, the third option is they realize they're gambling and will be drinking themselves to sleep every night.
The 2020 school year likely has lots of parents and students already questioning the money colleges charge for the educations they provide. The UofR firing 25-30% of their staff at the beginning of the school year will probably add a lot more questions about the value of the education they provide.
At this point NOBODY is doing anything to factor people who have already had Covid into their policies on getting the jab. Whether it's government or private businesses, I haven't heard a single instance of any of these policies treating people who have natural immunity as a different category. The latest data out of Israel is suggesting natural immunity is about 13X better than the jab. Not accounting for people who are already immune with these company wide policies makes them seem more than a little suspicious.Last edited by WARFAB; 08-27-2021, 02:52 PM.

Government gives us little reason to trust them when they won't acknowledge the very real benefit of natural immunity for those who have already had Covid.

They said in the beginning they didn't want to give any incentive to those who had covid because they didn't want people to intentionally get it.
This isn't about science it's like you all have been saying.... It's politics.
I've already made it clear to my coworkers that I will not be getting the vaccine no matter what. I won't be bullied or coerced into it.
CDC said to talk to Dr you trust and I did, I was told it's a personal decision and my natural immunity is much better then vaccine.
Surgeon general of US said in interview on misinformation that adults have the right to choose. So I choose no.
If society wants to punish me because I won't get a shot then they can pay me unemployment.
The government already acknowledged it can't mandate everyone to get vaccine that's why the pushed businesses to do there dirty work.
Like I've said before I'm taking mental note of who mandates what and after this is all over I still won't work for or give my business to companies that mandate vaccination or termination.

Dr I talked to said 6 to 7 times better immunity than vaccine but hey if the science says 13 times better now then I'll take it!
Read this article if you get a chance. It says in it that because old people have been good about getting vaccinated the overall mortality risk has been reduced by 90%. Sounds like we don't need to worry about mortality rate anymore if that's the case. So why keep pushing vaccine on younger and younger people???

My last doctor's appointment was about a month after I had Covid and he was still strongly suggesting I get vaccinated. It will be interesting to see if he's still recommending it the next time I talk to him.Originally posted by usmcveteran View PostDr I talked to said 6 to 7 times better immunity than vaccine but hey if the science says 13 times better now then I'll take it

Odds are good it will come up again, so we'll see. Lots more information has come out in the past 6 months, and he has always seemed pretty reasonable. I have positive expectations, but he's also part of the URMC system, so who knows.Originally posted by Norm Deguerre x2 View PostHis ..." Best Evidence,". ?????

Isn't that the same system that injected someone with radioactive material without their knowledge in the past?Originally posted by WARFAB View Post

A friend tells me there have been protests about the UofR mandatory vaccinations that have been having a good turnout. I guess there's one tomorrow from 4-6. I'm debating trying to attend because I think A: it would be good to show solidarity with the cause B: it would probably be a positive experience for me.

This shows UofR isn't against human experimentation without informed consent.
If people want the vaccine let them get it. If they don't then don't make them. It's really that simple.www.AvidArms.com I'm STIHL out of conditioner!!
