What that was is someone DXing meaning trying to talk to as many different people as possible in different countries to earn different awards. You can also rag chew if you want which means have long conversations assuming that the conditions don't change and your able go get signals to each other.

They also have nets which are run by a person where people check in and talk about stuff and pass messages on. You can pass a message across the country and have someone deliver it to someone for you too. The purpose of that is practice because if we lost normal communications we could use that for long range communications.

Oh and that was just voice too, you can do Morris code or other digital signals to get your signal further.

Not hooked up to computer or repeater. Antenna is so inefficient radio will only let me talk with 3 watts instead of max of 12 it has. No cheats or tricks here lol good old fashion luck of propagation lol

ummmm ... you reached a repeater. LOL You don't have the repeater ... someone else does. My friend Ray has a repeater in his yard to let the HAM guys use. He doesn't even have a HAM license but he put up the repeater antenna and power supply so that dipPeshittas like you can take off somewhere over the rainbow. LMFAO

I was talking on simplex meaning no repeater. You can see my frequency on video..... If I used a simplex repeater you would of heard me repeat back to myself. HF skips off ionosphere.

No ..... I'm not talking about a duplex. I'm talking about an actual dedicated repeater SFS. LOL You need to come up here and see what these guys do. Hahahaha. throw everything you thought you knew out the window. Almost ALL radio transmission have and will bounce off the ionosphere contrary to HAM beliefs. AM bounces off it as well because AM not only follows the contour of the land BUT it also transmits a skywave as well .. hence .... skipping. A repeater caught your transmit is what I'm saying. I understand what you're saying which is mostly truth. Here's the deal. There is a repeater somewhere near you within I'd guess 10 miles. I'm not saying that there is no way at all possible that you couldn't have talked to that guy with what you say you used because I've heard of some REALLY weird things happen before in radio. Hell ... one night at the station while I was on the air, my transmit was actually being transmitted from another station WAY up the FM dial. Shouldn't have happened as both stations had readings well within the limits ..... it just happened for about 6 minutes. No explanation. That's one of the things I love about this crap is that what you thought you knew .... you'll find out you didn't. I'm gonna go watch that video again. It's cool!!

I gotta git wit chu and see how I should use this thing.....I have never even touched it (as demonstrated by my lack of my own callsign (callsign used to be Gater06...but that was a different net....a long time ago))

Apparently it will expire in 2 years......yup...had it for 8 years now.

I did buy a Yaetsu little hand held thingy....but never really turned it on.
