I'm not sure I follow. You can't get a permit or wont on principle?

I just haven't jumped through the hoops yet to become one of the chosen. The permit process pisses me off, and Monroe County's timeline, and my timeline living here (we're looking to move in the next couple years and don't know which county we'll move to), leaves me in limbo and annoyed that I can't apply right now.

Just do it camper. If you move worry about it then. Yes the process in NYS sucks but don't let the antis win is my POV. They made it difficult? Fine, I still won't let you take away my ability to defend my family.

Monroe County is currently running on a ~18 month timeline. It's just not worth it right now, especially since I want to land in Ontario County, which is a LOT more 2A friendly. The hard part there will be the county references.

So 18 months if you apply today. If still in county a year and a half from now it's done. If not you probably have to wait 6 months in new county before you can apply. If not ready to move now chances are 18 mos will pass before you know it.

No criticism here. Just encouraging you to not let obstacles that haven't come up yet get in your way. As an example my brother and sister in law live in Westchester. Bro has had permit for years. I've been after his wife to submit her paperwork for years and she always says why bother it's going to take so long. She could have applied several times over at this point.

I second the motion to apply now. If your granted then move to a more friendlier county then transfer it. If you go to less friendly county then you can keep it in the old one. I currently live in Oneida county but keep mine in Madison just because I don't want them to add restrictions. As far as being pissed off about the whole permit thing I'm 100% with you, hell I'm still pissed about it and I have mine.

Monroe is extremely 2A friendly, it's just a long damn wait to get permit. The Clerk's office staff are all pro-2A, we have great conversations every time I'm there. Speaking of which, every single time I have been in Monroe clerk's office for more then 5 minutes, at least one or more people come in to pick up CCW apps.

Not sure what the wait time is for Ontario but you need to consider this: In Ontario you have to wait for a judge to sign off on any new purchase coupons, in Monroe it's done on the spot in the Clerk's office and you're in-and-out in a few minutes (not waiting days or weeks to receive a judge's approval). In all honesty, as a Monroe permit holder, if I moved to Ontario I would not transfer but instead keep my Monroe permit for the reason I just stated.

That may or may not be changing. With Dinolfo gone, many county clerk's staff members were cleared out according to an acquaintance who used to work there and got moved to a different job. Adam Bello was hand picked by der fuhrer himself, so I doubt his long term plans and goals are 2A friendly.

                  Could be wrong.

I was in a couple of weeks ago and all of the old familiar faces were still there.

Bello is going out of his way to trash Dinolfo and make a name for himself, isn't he? I suppose it only makes sense from andyboi's perspective: under Maggie and Cheryl, Monroe has pretty much been a Conservative enclave (with the exception of that poster child for affirmative action sitting in the mayor's office).

Based on all the news stories involving Bello lately, does anyone have any doubt about what political position he aspires to hold?

Based on social media commentary the masses are just eating it up with no clue there could be any distortions or ulterior motives.

Apply for yours , I got mine in 8 months and faster then others. If you have clean record I can help you get yours in 8 months or less if your willing to make a couple phone calls. I would not give you any advice I didn't use myself. In fact I'll save you effort by not having you do the things that didn't help me.
