The first of this season's four scheduled CMP high-power military rifle matches took place on the Long Rifle Range Sunday, May 20th. Four shooters turned out to test their skills against the 200 yard targets using classic military rifles with iron sights. The rain stayed away and we had a great morning of shooting.
Three of the shooters were fielding M1 Garands with a lone Springfield M1A rounding out the firing line for this 3 stage, 30 round event. Despite an uncooperative breeze blowing across the range, everybody managed to turn in very respectable scores (300 : 30-X being a perfect score).
B. Burger (M1 Garand) with a 234 : 0-X
C. Schlierf (M1A Springfield) with a 267 : 4-X
D. Holupko (M1 Garand) with a 274 : 4-X
G. Partridge (M1 Garand) with a 219 : 1-X (a nice showing for the rookie)
The June match is scheduled for Sunday, June 17 at 10:00 AM.
