.30 Super Carry

Looks like Federal is introducing a new handgun round. Supposed to outperform .380 while allowing greater magazine capacity. They're claiming it also is easier recoiling, which would allow for lighter recoil springs. If they can keep the ammo price competitive with .380, then my guess is they've got a winner here. There are plenty of people carrying .380 pistols who would switch if the ammo costs the same. What's not to like about a goldilocks combination of concealability, mag capacity, and milder recoil?

I'm still feeling burned by how fast .40 fell out of favor and how .327 federal Magnum didn't take off. I'll probably wait and see. The sales of .380 pistols and ammo in the last couple years have been prolific, which means there is a market but already a lot of people committed to the caliber.
