Cgrutt, How big is your small lathe? With a milling attachment for your lathe making your part from steel would be a piece of cake.

The small lathe is an old Craftsman/Atlas I think the Atlas model number was 918 if that makes sense. But I have a larger lathe that I am going to try to get running. I think I will be able to fabricate a horizontal milling attachment with the cross slide and tool post. This isn't going to happen anytime soon as I need to get the lathe running first. Just thinking about it more than anything else.
