Last campout we did archery with all scouts in am and rifle (22LR) with those 12 and over in pm. We had borrowed some recurve bows from West Point and there were some small (crap) compound bows in archery shed at scout camp. Some of the smaller scouts (all of the 10-11 y/o and some of the older scouts) had a lot of difficulties with the recurves which i believe were 15 to 25 lbs. We put them on the compounds which were in really poor shape. The Scouts that were strong enough to string and pull the recurves all seemed to have a great time. It was a mixed bag with the smaller scouts and I think a lot had to do with the condition of equipment. So I'd say make sure she's strong enough to operate safely and have good equipment. Good luck.
