USMC use clear 100% silicone caulk to build up and to glue the seal in at the same time. It will last 20yrs and won't dry out split or crack. Buy a good caulking gun that you can use around the new house to do it. ****100% silicone****

Just thought I would update and say that I have used the cooler this summer. With my temp modification of adding cardboard strip's to raise gasket and getting plug from brew store I managed to keep ice for around a week inside it while it was outside in 80 to 90 degree sun and kept drinks ice cold.
Works well and with the thicker gaskets, latches mounted lower go create lid tension and and a standard plug in addition to screw on cap for draining it would be better.
Also for what it's worth it looks like they use standard spray can insulation for walls. So those DIY people could probably improve on ones they currently own.www.AvidArms.com I'm STIHL out of conditioner!!
