That is ok Wildman, the boat I just posted above I am almost positive I am going to get as I know the guy really good and lives on the same street as me just a couple houses down,he text me when I was on my way home tonight from picking up the Johnson 5.5 hp from Chicken Shoot..

I also want to send out a very big Thank You to Chicken Shoot and Cgrutt for giving me the Johnson 5.5 hp,I do want to get a Carb kit ,new spark plug and impeller for it so I can have a friend of down the road give it a good tune up..It might take me awhile to get everything together even if I only use it couple times this year to try everything out,at least I have it for next years fishing..

Here is some pictures of the boat, there is a few things I need to get for her and do a paint job on the trailer and the wheels and she look like brand new,,I will also need to get a trolling motor for it so I am still thinking I get a transom trolling motor as I need it for the little 14 ft aluminum,I can not afford to buy 2 trolling motors..Unless I can find a god used one...I do want a pedestal seat on the bow of the boat and I want to remove 2 of the seats in the middle of the boat to give me a little more area to move around..

What do you guys think of this boat?

I could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

Yep ... nice looking boat. If the marina near you knows the boat and says it's a good one, go for it!!

CS ,I will definitely check out the boat very good and check out to see if he is the original owner,I may have to take a spin around town to see if I can find where this boat is..

There's no need for a deep cycle battery in a boat. Those are more for RV's where the battery is the main power source. This battery is going to be used just like your car would: start the motor and go.

I am pretty sure I need a deep cycle battery for the trolling motor as there is no alternator on them to keep them charge,so basically when done a day of use I would just put the charger on the deep cycle to keep it charged,I am not 100% sure if the outboard on the boat has alternator to keep it charged,so if the outboard has a alternator then I be fine with a regular car battery, but I have to have one for the trolling motor.

Yes, with a trolling motor, you would need one.

I need a little help on a couple question and I hope I can explain what I am wanting to do..

Now since I am new to boating I have a question about trolling motors.

Ok here is my question and dilemma,as you know I have a 14 foot small aluminum boat and I want a trolling motor for it also and since Cgrutt was so nice of him to give me a Johnson CD-12 5.5 hp I still want a trolling motor for the boat.

Well here is my dilemma I do not want to buy 2 trolling motors I want to be able to run only one,so I would need to take it off one boat and put it on the other boat..

The problem is my 14 foot boat would have to be a Transom mount,is it possible to use a Transom mount on the bigger boat as I just can not afford to buy a bow mount trolling motor. The other thing is I could by a bow mounted trolling motor but I would need to be able to take it off and on the bigger boat and some how mount it on the smaller boat,is this possible or should I just make some sort of mounting bracket to mount a Transom trolling motor on my bigger boat..

There also maybe if not room on the bigger boat by the main engine along the side to mount a trolling motor but it may be a little harder to run and reach, worse case I could just leave the motor off and just mount it on when ready to use it but that would make it a real pain in the butt to put it on while on the lake all the time..

I going to check it out again to see if it is possible to mount it by the main motor or some how,I would prefer a bow mounted trolling motor on the bigger boat but I would need to be able to switch it from both boats,I just can not afford to by 22 trolling motors..

The other thing I am not sure how long the shaft would have to be on the trolling motor for the bow on the bigger boat I hope to get soon,I just know the trolling motor I was going to get for my 14 foot boat was going to be this one..

Minn Kota Endura Max 55 36" with MK-105P Charger

I am just not sure if the 36 in shaft would be long enough for the bow of the bigger boat..

I may just go with a bow mounted trolling motor for the big boat and just use the 5.5 hp by it self on the small boat,I was just hoping I could use just 1 trolling motor on both, the trolling motor on the smaller boat would be nice as I would not have to start the 5.5 hp all the time to move and of course it be quieter to move a little bit all the time..

You can look around and buy a newer used one for the bigger boat and save some money AND you can buy a used one for the small boat. I've found, although having new is nice, there are REALLY good deals amongst the bass fishing guys because those with money HAVE TO HAVE the newest, most powerful trolling motor on the market at that time. If something else comes out that has even more torque, they buy it and sell the one that they just bought 2 months prior at a massive loss!! Take a look around. Ask the marina too. Now, how long will the shaft have to be for that bigger boat? I'm going to guess from 46-54". The entire motor can be dropped down in the mount as well. You can find those tiller controlled trolling motors for the smaller boat REALLY cheap. You don't need anything special for the 14' boat. I have a 56lb trolling motor on my 18' bass boat. It does just fine.

Well guys I just got some really bad news,it looks like I may not be able to get the boat I posted as the guy had another buyer say he would buy the boat and will give him his $2,000.00 asking price,I offered to give him $1,6.00.00 for the boat simply because I need to have the extra money to go towards a battery and a Minn Kota bow mounted trolling motor which will run around $450 for the one I wanted,I told the guy if for any reason if this guy who offered him his asking price would you still sell me the boat if he does not come up with the money by the weekend would you still sell it to me he said he would..

I am a little disappointed that I may lose my chance at getting this boat,,but there still maybe a chance I can get the boat if this guy does not buy it by the weekend..

I did have one concern about this boat and that is that I would be the only one loading and unloading the boat by myself and I found from my friend who lives straight across the street that he was one of the original owners of it and said the boat loads very hard as the trailer it is on is not the trailer for it and that with out any help or guides to help load the boat on the trailer that I would have a very hard time loading it by myself,he also said with my back problems he would suggest if by any chance you are still able to get the boat he said get your self some of these to add to the trailer http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boati...gclsrc%3Daw.ds these would help me load and unload my boat with ease,he also said remember this is a fiberglass boat so it is so much heavier then it would be if I could find a Aluminum boat..

Even though I am a little disappointed I will continue to look if things do not turn out for the good for me,I am sure you all here will help me find another boat.

I did find another boat and this one looks in beautiful shape compared to the one I looked at but again it is a fiberglass boat but this one has a smaller motor 70 hp and the other thing I notice it has guides on the trailer to help load the boat easier,The boat is some where in NY and I have sent the person a message asking where it is but have not heard back and I sent the message 3 days ago..

Looks like it is out by Ogdensburg,I going to try contacting them again and see if there willing to go a little lower on the price..

Here is the boat I am talking about..

                          http://potsdam.craigslist.org/boa/5113657656.html

Well I got some bad news and some good news, the bad news is the first boat I posted was sold today, the good news is I was finally contacted by the person that owns the Starcraft and he told me he would sell me the boat for $1,500.00 and he is going to send me some pictures of it,so as soon as I get those pictures I post them for you all to see,now I know pictures are hard to tell how nice or how good of shape the boat it is in but from that first picture above the boat is in beautiful shape compared to the first boat I posted..

I not jumping the gun but I am at this point almost positive this will be the boat I get..one thing is I know it is not a 115 hp motor and has a 70 hp so this will help save on gas, another thing is the boat is still fiberglass but it looks like he has boat guides on it..

Tell me what you all think when you look at the first boat and then this one what do you all think,?

Looks OK, but like you said .. it's a picture. Ask them if they are willing to launch it so you can drive it. If they are more than willing to do so, there's your indication that they aren't hiding anything engine wise with it.
