What would be involved in taking a steel frame on existing bike (paint would have to be removed and/or sanded, etc.), some scratches/chips repaired and cerakoting? I'm thinking in an AvidArms theme, LOL.
Been spending some time on a mountain bike forum lately and getting more serious about doing a custom Cerakote frame with AvidArms theme. I just ordered a custom head badge in nickle and copper with the site logo. Should have it in a few weeks. Check out the work this girl does, very cool...
Got a new project to work on... building an oven that's large enough for bike frame (and some guns), LOL. Just got back from Lowes, Home Depot and Wally World. Will post some picks when I figure out what to do with everything I bought, ha, ha...
But first, wrapping x-mas presents. That shouldn't take more than a day or so, he, he...
I'm glad your making an oven because I can't fit the frame in mine. The funny thing is when we made it we decided to make it bigger than we would ever need. Then you came along lol!
I'm drawing it out now. Going to be pretty big. Approx. 32" high, 51" wide and 19" deep. Will support 25" high X 42" wide x 10" internal oven. I'm using cement board internally, 4" pine for the frame and 1/2" ply for outside. Fiberglass insulation will be between cement board and ply. Two 900 watt 7" diameter hot plates will provide heat source. I have everything but the temperature controller, relay, and thermo-coupler which I need to order online. All in it should be about $125. Not too bad. Now I need to figure out how to prep and paint, LOL...
Your going to need a thermometer also. You don't have to go too crazy with insulation, you only need it to hold temp around 250. Ours runs on propane and had to add a vent on top to regulate the temp better. Even on the lowest setting that would stay lit it would still get too hot.
Temperature controller has the thermometer but I bought an oven thermometer as well. Thought about venting top with a damper. Don't think I will need it because I'm using an electronic controller that will cut power when it gets too hot and turn it back on to maintain temp. Controller looks like this:
Hey, maybe I'll get invited to the White House! Would love to decline, ha, ha...
