So, ex-military with a legally possessed handgun enters a secure facility using his authorized credentials and kills a bunch of people. No gun law currently in existence or proposed by the grabbers could have possibly prevented this. Damn, nothing for the left to latch on to here. WAIT! The shooter used a suppressor? Hot damn, we got us a headline! "Silencer make latest shooting even more deadly"

Fukk me.....it even states in the article (way down at the end, where most folks stop reading long before): "A suppressor does not eliminate the sound a gun makes but generally diminishes it by 20 to 35 decibels, leaving most guns still louder than your average ambulance siren."

They jumped all over this and screamed for "more gun reform" and "stand up to the NRA" long before any news about a silencer came out. Nobody was proposing anything specific that would have prevented this tragedy, but they definitely thought we should do "something".


Slightly off topic about "silencers". As stated in the article, silencers don't actually make a firearm all that silent. It's still pretty loud. I went to the range a few weeks ago and a number of other guys were already set up and shooting when I got there. I walk in with my eye protection and electronic ear protection on and notice that the one guy is shooting one of those crazy air rifles that you can hunt with. I'm assuming it was a .30 cal but didn't ask. I was setting up and bringing in my gear and heard a variety of noisy centerfire rifle shots coming from the other end of the range but never heard anything from the air rifle guy. I wondered what he was doing so I stopped and watched him for a little while. I finally saw him take a shot but didn't hear anything. I carried on with what I was doing and just wrote it off in my head that the air rifle must have been fairly quiet, but my electronic ear muffs must have blocked whatever report that rifle makes. Then a little while later I scratched my head because my electronic ear muffs actually amplify quieter sounds so that you can have conversations. That air rifle must have been freakishly quiet.

Now the governor is calling for a special legislative session to push a bunch of legislation that...... wouldn't have prevented the shooting.

Meanwhile, has anyone actually gotten the details on the guns that were used? Supposedly at least one of them was suppressed, but the media doesn't seem interested in digging into whether the suppressor was legal.

Two 45 cal handguns, one with a suppressor. Legally owned after passing bg check. Black guy, registered democrat, gun free zone, yada yada (doesn't fit the narrative). As it stands, not one single proposal by the VA governor would have stoped this recent event yet....."we gotta do something". WTF?

How about eliminate gun free zones? If the victims families could successfully sue those in charge of the gun free zone because they weren't adequately protected while being denied their natural right to self defense, we might actually see some changes that would make a difference.
