  • Got some venison backstraps in the freezer

Graciously provided by another member. Too bad I don't eat them, lol. Storing them for an acquaintance...

So got to admit they look pretty damn good (and professionally packed, lol)... Feel if I were to eat venison I'd have to be involved in taking it. Who wants to show me the ropes come regular season (and what's involved in getting a license these days)?

Welcome to hunt with us, Southern Hamilton County, good guys with the typical cursing and ball busting, cover 3-6 miles a day. Once you leave the road you won't see it or often here it till we come out, wet, cold, hot, sweating with a little WTF am I doing here, carrying a deer like a back pack until I can't carry it anymore and the next guy does it, over and over till you get back to the road. Need to have a decent pack with shoulder pack or back pack, be warned, back packs make your back sweat and a watch will be uncomfortable when the temps don't rise above 30degrees, and no cotton, synthetics and wool clothes and socks. Regardless what others will tell you, wool socks don't cause blisters, ill fitting boots do.
A big bear brings on another set of logistical issues when your a couple miles off the road. If it all sounds like it's something you want to try, come on up, down, over.
As far as the license, have to take a hunting course and just buy it.

I must say I love beavers.

You will need to take a hunters safety course before you can purchase a license. They are generally full this time of year, but check around.

I did hunter safety when I about 16. Still have the hand-written paper course completion certificate, lol. Don't think I'm going to have time this year but something I've always considered...

If you have the certificate you should be good to go. I would stop by a plac e that sells licenses and verify your good to go. Wouldn't hurt to tag along with someone for a day or two this year just to get in the woods to look for sigh and so forth, and remember, NO Aftershave or pretty scents. You don't need to be paranoid about it, but smelling like a sweaty warthog is just as bad.
