  • Micro chipping your dog...

We're about to rescue a dog. The shelter will neuter and microchip the dog. We've never chipped our dogs before. Anyone have opinions on this procedure? I know it is nothing more than a 5 second injection procedure. The chip is an RFID with the unique ID number for each pet that requires a scanner to get the ID # off the chip. Our personal location information needs to be maintained and updated in their database in order for them to contact us if the dog is lost. It is not a GPS tracker.

Any more information or opinions would be appreciated.

We had it done with our Lab. Have no idea if it works or not but she loves chips

I think it's a good idea, the mutt I inherited from my folks is chipped.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

      I get a boner.

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Mine are to. Goes under skin usually between shoulder blades. If dog ever gets loose or anything like that then a Vet can scan chip to get ID number. Then they look up that number and contact the information you provide on a website.

Not harmful to the pooch and in event ever separated (run away, natural disaster, etc) a vet can scan it and reconnect you. Good karma on you for taking a rescue dog!
Ok I can go a couple ways

Mine aren't chipped, but if it was free, I'd be fine with them doing it.

Thanks for the feedback all. I guess we'll follow everyone's lead on this one. Wasn't sure if this was just more .gov overreach.

I'd you really wanted privacy you could probably put your vets contact info who then could contact you.
