  • National Reciprocity?!?!?

After years of legal losses, are gun owners about to get a victory?

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/11/09/national-reciprocity-reality-president-trump/

Concealed carry reciprocity legislation could begin moving in Congress real soon. So it’s important for gun owners to contact their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor HR 923, the measure which establishes reciprocity and safeguards Constitutional Carry.

Gun owners shouldn’t have to ask for permission to exercise their constitutionally protected rights. And that’s the beauty of HR 923. If it passes, all concealed carriers — even those from permitless carry states — will not have to fear prosecution when traveling with firearms from coast-to-coast.

Chimera doesn't people walking around with bags of guns , or I think he said that last time.

Pretty sure people already do that illegally and legal owners aren't likely to do that lol.

This was a part of Trump's platform. I hope he can get it done. Some Supreme Court appointments could go a long way on cementing this as law.

Spoken like someone from the military. The US military goes where it wants to go, so the concept of international borders must seem kind of irrelevant.

Someone pinch me. I think I might be dreaming.

                  http://freebeacon.com/issues/national-reciprocity-bill-will-apply-non-resident-gun-carry-permits/

Rep. Richard Hudson (R., N.C.) clarified on Wednesday that his national concealed carry reciprocity bill would apply to permits issued by states to non-residents.

After Hudson introduced the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 last week, questions were raised about whether it would apply to permits issued by some states to non-residents. In an interview with the Free Beacon, Hudson confirmed that permits issued by any state to residents or non-residents would have to be recognized by all other states under his legislation.

“My legislative intent is to ensure a non-resident carry permit is recognized, and I’ve confirmed this with legislative counsel and Judiciary Committee staff,” Hudson said.

Many gun owners in states that use a “may issue” permitting process, such as California or New Jersey, are not able to obtain concealed carry permits from their home state—even if they’ve passed a background check and met the training requirements—since the final decision in those states is left at the discretion of government officials. However, those same gun owners may be able to obtain a non-resident permit from a state with different gun laws. Under Hudson’s proposal, that permit would allow them to carry across the country—including in their home state.

                    I think you're dreaming lol...

Seriously this would be awesome but doesn't it infringe on state sovereignty? How would it apply to NYC? Standard capacity mags? Doesn't resident or nonresident still need to comply with state law? I really don't see this happening in NY but I might still be in my nightmare. Please wake me up!!!

Saying this would infringe on state sovereignty is essentially saying that the bill of rights infringes on state sovereignty. The reality of our situation is that the states are infringing upon our unalienable rights. State sovereignty concerns should fall far below unalienable rights in the judicial hierarchy.

My guess is that standard capacity mags will fall under the "local laws" stipulation. It will be a pain for out of state residents, but overall this law could help us substantially.

I'm under no delusions about the legal efforts Cuomo and his like minded cohorts will make to stifle this. The natural reaction is going to be adding A LOT more "local laws". That said, this would still be a big win for us. It throws the ball back in the anti-gunners' court so that they have to put all the time and effort on legal challenges. That will tie up resources that they would otherwise be using to further curtail our rights.

Agreed. What about NY requirement that pistol be listed on holders permit? Or registered in NYSP database? So NY resident could obtain FL permit and buy a pistol in NYS without getting county involved? Still must be dreaming...

Think of the taxpayer money it would save at the county level.

I just don't see it helping NYS residents that much within NYS. Although I would be happy to see it pass if nothing else to give FUAC another FU on National level.
